Children, our future and hope!

One of the objectives of Traditional Arts Centre is to groom young opera talents, by inculcating and nurturing young children`s appreciation and love for traditional operas. Since its inception in 2012, the Centre actively recruits outstanding children and organizes regular opera training classes. By learning basic opera performance skills, namely singing, reciting, acting and acrobatic fighting, the children will appreciate the beauty of combined, stylized and virtual opera performances. This serves not only to deepen their artistic appreciation but also improve their fitness level. With the Centre`s active role, we will cultivate a group of indigenous young opera talents to perpetuate this traditional Chinese art form!

Chinese opera enthusiasts trained by the Traditional Arts Centre, took part in the “6th Guo Xi Cup” Youth Opera competition held at Beijing - China on 30 Nov 2015. Teochew opera was performed by Koh Liang Ai, Koh Liang Ying and Mak Mun Teng. The young performers had achieved “Third Award” for the group category and Traditional Arts Centre (Singapore) had received the “Outstanding Organisation Award”.
